Summertime has arrived and that means more opportunities to visit Orlando local attractions. Did you know that there is a zoo right here in the Orlando area? The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is in Sanford, FL. This Central Florida gem features over 400 animals and presents fun for visitors of all ages.
What's new at the zoo? The Train is back and running after a hiatus! We took a trip to check it out and explore. The train is located at the front of the zoo and is the perfect way to start your day here. Once you board the train it takes you on a scenic ride through the zoo's property. Tickets for the train are $5 per rider and kids 2 and under ride for free,
The train runs daily 10am-3:30pm. It runs every 30 minutes and does not operate when it rains so these are things to keep in mind. My kids enjoyed the train we ended up riding twice.
The Central Florida Zoo does an amazing job making their exhibits kid friendly. While most kids are excited for the animals, we all know that visiting these locations can be wonderful learning experiences. There is a children’s playground area where kids can play while parents can relax at one of the benches surrounding this area.
Guess what else you can find here? A SPLASH PAD! The tropical splash ground is open daily and perfect for a hot day so do not forget to pack the kid’s swimsuits. You will also find a butterfly garden in which they can roam, a petting zoo plus human sized chess! The children’s garden was a wonderful spot to just unwind and let kids enjoy the sand and area. They do an amazing job providing an environment where kids will not want to leave.
What to Know Before You Go?
